Cooking Classes
Learn how to make the most popular local Turkish dishes with a local village woman, in her home or garden! We offer traditional cooking classes with a local woman – learning to make appetizers (mezes), soups, entrée, dessert and Turkish coffee. Before meeting with your new “Turkish Auntie”, we take you to a local market or produce shop to gather all of the ingredients we will need. Your guide will have a good knowledge of cooking terminology and be able to translate all instructions and explanations. With your new “Turkish auntie” you will learn to make such local dishes as red lentil soup, stuffed grape leaves, gozleme (a type of stuffed, grilled flatbread), stuffed peppers, aside (a type of dessert) or other dishes depending on season. After preparing all the dishes, we will all sit together and enjoy what we’ve made for lunch.
The half-day cooking class with market/grocer price includes transportation, ingredients and guide/translator. Lunch is also included as you will have what you prepare in class for your meal. Cooking Classes are available daily, year-round – usually these are offered in the first half of the day however we can occasionally arrange for the cooking class to be at dinner time instead.
